Hotel La Mirande, so named since its transformation into a hotel, after the square on which it is located, and in memory of the festivities hall, its walls covered in golden Cordovan leather, built by the representatives of the Pope to receive the notables of the city and visiting high dignitaries. Once the Hotel Pomard, from the name of an illustrious family of doctors, one of whom was a famous mayor of the city, owners and occupants for two hundred years. Before that, the Hotel de Vervins, the name of the person who had ordered the noble facade, designed by Pierre Mignard and built in 1688. At the time of popes, it was the cardinal's palace of Arnaud de Pellegrue; nephew of Pope Clement V. Hotel La Mirande carries the traces of all the chapters of its history. Its recent restoration favoured and completed the 18th century elements, bringing back the splendour of an aristocratic residence of that era. A large majority of the rooms have a romantic view onto the historic Popes' Palace. All the modern comforts have all been perfectly blended into the decor of the room. Hotel La Mirande and its garden are situated well away from the bustle of the town.
