Day 1
Pick up your car in Avignon train stationCheck in at La Bergerie des Sources
Le Prieure, Le Prieuré was built as an archbishop's palace in 1322 and became a priory in 1333 - now it's a charming hotel at the heart of this inviting medieval village. Ivy clings to its warm stone exterior, green shutters dress its windows, and sun-baked tiles adorn the roof. The hotel has expanded and changed over the years and now has 26 rooms and 10 suites, many of which have lovely terraces, housed in a modern annex. The annex, which might at first disappoint as it doesn't boast the character of old, does enjoy all the welcome, modern comforts. Air conditioning has been incorporated throughout - an appreciated luxury in the hot Provençal summers. Le Prieuré is decorated with beautiful antiques, which add charm and beauty to the ambiance and setting. When blessed with the balmy weather of Provence, dine on the terrace surrounded by foliage and soft lighting in the subtle elegance of a summer night.
Day 2
Morning a tour at the truffle market. Spend the afternoon truffle hunting with a truffle grower and his dogs. Black truffles, sometime referred to as Black Diamonds, are often mistaken for being primarily from Périgord. Connoisseurs in Provence will have no such thing. Eighty percent of the French national production comes from Southeastern France. The most internationally recognized truffles tuber Melanosporum and the world-renowned markets are in Northern Provence: Richerenche, and Vaison La Romaine.
And as to the myth that truffles are an aphrodisiac: as the French writer Brillat-Savarin said " So lets just believe they are an aphrodisiac, and continue to heartily eat them!"
Truffle dinner with Provencal accents.
Day 3
Enjoy tasting of regional wines, and meander through the vineyards on the way to Gordes.Stop in Avignon: 14th century walled city, once home to the Catholic popes. The presence of the Church transformed the appearance of the old medieval city and the Palais des Papes (Palace of the Popes) dominates the old historic core of the city. Another 'must see' is, of course, the St Bénézet Bridge (Pont St-Bénézet), known to generations of school children who have learnt to sing that catchy tune 'Sur le pont, Avignon...'.
Also drive to Menerbes, the village immortalised by Peter Mayles 'A Year in Provence'
Check in at La Bastide de Gordes****
A hotel of your dreams, situated in one of France's most beautiful villages, in the heart of an exceptional site. Constructed in what was once the old ramparts, advanced from the village.

Situated on a precipice, the town will reward you with a view of ‘half of Provence.' The village itself is simply incredible, carved as it's been almost out of the very rock of the hilltop. There are few places that truly deserve the description 'unique' but this certainly is one of them.
